Knee scooters are often a temporary annoyance that people have to go through in order to allow one of their feet or legs to recover without having to put a lot of pressure on it. However, knee walkers can be frustrating and even embarrassing for those who value their mobility. One way to deal with having to use a knee walker is to personalize it so that it is more useful to you and shows off your own style. Here are some ideas for personalizing your knee scooter.
1. Add Baskets
You can go to many different hardware stores or bicycle stores to find a variety of baskets that might work with your knee scooter. One of the downsides of using the scooter is that it requires both of your hands to steer it effectively. If you find that you're having a hard time easily moving small items when you change locations, consider getting a front basket. It will save you from having to carry an across-shoulder bag that could force you off-balance. If you need to carry larger items, consider getting a basket for the back of your scooter.
2. Get a Vanity License Plate
Many tourist stores and online sites will sell license plates that you can customize that are small enough for a scooter. You'll be able to choose the shape of the plate, what's written on the plate, and even some of the images that are on the plate to allow you to make your knee scooter your own.
3. Wrap Your Scooter in Flat Ribbon
If you want to decorate the stem of your scooter that leads up to the handles, as well as the handles itself, consider wrapping your scooter in flat ribbon. Go to a craft store and look for the ribbon that you want to use. You can either use a single color or multiple colors. Pick up some glue that is designed to adhere items to metal. Once you have all of your materials, start at the bottom of the stem and attach an end of the ribbon. Then, wrap the ribbon tightly around the stem. You don't need to continue to add glue because it will stay up as long as you wrap it tightly enough. If you run out of ribbon, glue the end of the ribbon to the stem to hold it in place, attach another piece of ribbon on top of it and continue wrapping the stem.
